Could you be a Sacred Heart Companion in Prayer?

The prayer support of our CIPs is highly valued, and the movement is open to anyone who wishes to be a part of the Sacred Heart family.

Prayer
is at the
very heart
of our
relationship
with God.

It leads us
to appreciate
God’s
presence in
everyone
and
everything
around us.

Through
prayer we
are united
to God’s
vision for us
and for
 the world.

Sisters working in the different regions around the world have always maintained that their work amongst the poorest of people has been underpinned by the power and strength of the commitment to prayer of families, friends and supporters. In 1984 it was suggested that this support be more formally recognised and our Sacred Heart Auxiliary Movement was born.
This movement has grown into what we now call Sacred Heart Companions in Prayer.

CIPs are invited to:

• Accompany the congregation through daily prayer
• Live according to Gospel values
• Promote Peace, Justice and the Integrity of Creation
• Help those in need
• Cherish life as a precious gift of God
• Strive to enrich the local community

Companions in Prayer come to us in many and varied ways. There are many groups around the UK and Ireland, as well as overseas. Some are in areas where we still work and live, while others continue to carry our charism and spirituality in areas where we no longer have a presence  There are also individual members, some may be housebound or they may just prefer to become a home member.  Either way, all are welcome and contribute vital support through daily prayer and involvement at various levels.

Many groups meet regularly to pray together and socialise - others become more actively involved in supporting the work of the congregation both at home and abroad.

Groups or individual members have access to resources/information from our Justice and Peace Centre, updates through newsletters and magazines and occasional Days of Reflection where members are invited to meet the sisters, co-workers and each other to explore new themes and pray together.
